Athabasca Public School conservation project committee members have applied for several grants and are researching other funding opportunities. The Athabasca Pottery Club received a grant from the Alberta Government to begin work on the structural foundation of the building. Abatement of asbestos in the basement has begun, and restoration of the windows. The original character of the building will be conserved and maintained as much as possible.
     The grants applied for include Canada's "Green and Inclusive Community Buildings" grant and Alberta's "Heritage Preservation Partnership Program."
